The Trust desire was to produce a ground breaking mental health environment that truly reflected the needs and requirements of their patients and in a twenty-first century NHS.

To achieve this within the Basildon Mental Health Unit (Cherrydown, Kelvendon, Grangewater and Thorpe Wards) required the works area to be stripped back to core and then the space reconfigured into single bedroom accommodation with ensuite, communal and areas. All to be achieved in a live hospital environment within the Basildon Mental Health Unit at Basildon University Hospital (Acute)

The works included extensive demolition and strip-out of existing installations, new window/panels/doors, sanitaryware, flooring, anti-ligature furnishing and fittings, adaptation of fire and security systems, replacement mechanical & electrical as well as landscaping of the interior courtyard and exterior garden areas

Testimonial
This is the first time that the Trust has worked with Storm and throughout we found them to be professional and approachable. Communication was clear from the Storm team throughout the project, allowing challenges to be discussed and resolved swiftly and to everyone’s satisfaction. Their site management and control of all works on site was excellent and ensured that the project was delivered to time and budget whilst happy to make the effort to achieve a high standard of finish with minimum disruption for the Trust.
