The project comprised the refurbishment of the 5th floor south wing of the main building to create the new Psychology Department, offices, technical booths and lecture rooms. The works included the provision of “Komfort” partitioning with associated glazing, new doors, suspended ceilings, carpeting, ventilation and cooling to the central technical booths, new heating, new power and data throughout.

The scheme was fully designed, however further development of the ventilation system was a key requirement and as such close working with the mechanical engineers was paramount to ensure a fully working bespoke system.

The project also created a single IT teaching room and adjacent corridor on the 1st floor from the amalgamation of two separate rooms. The new IT teaching room included bespoke storage and benching along with complex IT connections to the work stations.

As the building was occupied throughout the duration of the scheme the works involved careful planning along with daily consultation with the university team to ensure minimal disruption.
